AL DAHRA PARK

Al Ain has several popularly visited parks. However, Al Wagan area in particular has unused open spaces that are in need of attractive and functional uses that could accommodate all key groups within the population, including children, adults and people with disabilities.

ICON was invited by Al Ain Municipality to assess and create a park with active recreational areas. Consist- ing of a juma /Friday market and large open lawn, the design proposal sought an innovative and practical landscape intervention, which would make Al Dahra Park aesthetically attractive, functional and user- friendly. Shaded walkways and playgrounds, carefully selected plant species and the juma /Friday market showcase the parks sustainability potential from an ecological, social and economic point of view.
